Variety of potato "Triumph": characteristics, description, yield, reviews and photos

The early highly productive potato “Triumph” of universal purpose is favorably characterized by a high yield of commercial tubers, which are suitable for early market sales. At present, the variety is not yet included in the State Register, and the qualitative description of the variety, as well as data on zoning, are currently completely absent.

Variety description

Potato varieties "Triumph" generates a crop in the early stages. The period from germination to harvest is approximately 70-90 days. The tubers are leveled, round-oval in shape and covered with a yellow, smooth skin. The eyes are medium-sized, superficial, which facilitates the preparation of tubers for use in cooking.

The flesh on the cut is cream colored. In the process of heat treatment and cleaning does not darken.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantages of potato varieties "Triumph" are as follows:

  • high and stable yield,
  • early and most friendly return of the crop,
  • obtaining even medium sized tubers with a very attractive appearance,
  • excellent taste and suitability for most dishes,
  • the possibility of long-term storage of the crop,
  • resistance to the defeat of the Colorado potato beetle and the golden nematode.

Landing rules

Before planting, the tubers should preferably be treated with a special tool "Prestige". Also improve the rooting and the formation of tubers will allow the treatment of planting material with stimulants such as "Heteroauxin" or "Epin-extra." When grown from seed, seedlings at the picking stage are recommended to be fed with complex fertilizer Kemira. Pickup can not carry out.

Potatoes varieties "Triumph" is recommended to grow in an ordinary way, leaving the distance between rows at a level of 60-70 cm. Special attention should be paid to preparing the tubers for planting. They must be germinated in the light, at a temperature of 10-12 ° C. The tubers that are properly germinated and ready for planting will have green, strong, not longer than 2.5 cm sprouts.

When choosing the method of planting potatoes, one should proceed largely from the type of soil, as well as from the availability of specialized garden equipment at the potato’s disposal. Soil before planting should be dug up and completely cleaned of weeds. Planting is carried out only in the soil heated to a temperature of 10 ° C. It is recommended to add a handful of peat mixture and a small amount of ash to each prepared planting well before laying the tuber.

Care features

The middle-early hybrid population of table potatoes called “Triumph” is quite undemanding in its care, but it responds well to high agricultural techniques, forming the most abundant crop. It is noted that the variety is very responsive to compliance with soil moisture and abundant mulching.

It is obligatory to hold the early loosening of potato plantations with a rake or hoe, with the garden inventory not more than 2-3 cm deep, which increases the oxygen supply to the tubers and allows you to quickly destroy small weeds.

In the future, care consists in the implementation of regular weeding and the introduction of two root or one root and one foliar top dressing. When drying the soil, abundant watering is carried out, allowing the soil to be saturated with water by about 50 cm. Before harvesting, it is advisable to mow the tops, which will speed up the maturation of potato tubers.

The history of the origin of this potato variety

The variety was bred by Omsk breeders in 2017. The State Resource has not yet been introduced, but the tests have shown excellent results in crop quality. "Triumph" is recommended for cultivation in small and large farms both for own consumption and for sale.

Correct fit

In order for Truimph to give the greatest return, it is necessary to carry out preparatory activities before sowing:

  1. At least 14 days before planting, clear the area from weeds and their seeds by applying herbicides: Arsenal, Titus, Centurion,
  2. Sort the potatoes. The largest and most healthy tubers of uniform color are selected for planting: without traces of mold, cracks, bites,
  3. To pickle planting tubers with solutions Prestige, Tyrant, Taboo,
  4. To germinate tubers to sprouts 2.5 cm long subject to a temperature regime of 10-12 * C,
  5. Prepare the soil before planting:
    1. Loosen thoroughly
    2. Add ash, peat and humus to the planting wells.

Characteristic variety

Triumph brought breeders in Russia. Despite the fact that this potato showed good results during the tests, it has not been added to the country’s register until today.

During the tests it was proved that the yield will be higher if the soil is light and fertile. This potato variety tolerates temperature fluctuations and can produce a crop even during a short-term drought.

If you grow Triumph in areas with warm climatic conditions, you can harvest 2 times a year. It can be used not only for industrial purposes, but also for personal use. Due to its product quality, it is perfect for sale and will bring great profit.

It is believed that the Triumph is a table root. It ripens pretty quickly, and its growing season is only 2 months. The yield of this potato is striking in its high level. It has been proven that 500 kg of fruit can be collected from 1 ha. It can be stored for a long time, during which it will not lose its taste and appearance. Perfectly transfers transportation to long distances.

Plant description

The description of the plant deserves attention. The bush is not much scattered around the site, which facilitates harvesting. Green tops presented in moderation. White flowers are formed on the corolla, but berries may not appear at all.

The root system varieties Triumph large. In one bush can be up to 30 fruits. If you follow all the rules of care, the tubers can be more than 40.

Description of the fetus

Potatoes do not have pronounced external defects. Very rarely found roots, having an ugly appearance. The only problem is that you will not be able to collect seeds from this potato. We'll have to buy seed again.

This potato variety has a pleasant taste and does not contain a large amount of water. The flesh has a creamy appearance that does not lose its shade when cooking or brushing. Also from the collected root vegetables is ideal to make potato chips. It can be used for cooking soups or fry it. If you make a puree out of it, then it will turn out to be a pleasant yellow shade.

Photo potato varieties "Triumph":

The potato cultivar Triumph was bred by Russian breeders and has proven itself in testing on industrial fields. Sort bye not listed in the State Register of the Russian Federation, zoning is not carried out.

The tests found that yield increases on fertile light soils, the potato suffers small drops in temperature, heat, short-term drought.

It is recommended for industrial cultivation and farms. It has excellent product quality, ideal for retail or wholesale.

Lay-up is one of the main indicators that are important when choosing a variety for cultivation. In the table below you can see the keeping quality of different varieties:

Features of growing

Agricultural technology is not particularly difficult. Before planting, it is necessary to treat the seed. Selected tubers are etched and germinated at a temperature of 10-12 degrees.

Like other superearly varieties, "Triumph" often propagated by seed. It is more convenient to grow them in containers, sowing after pre-soaking and processing of growth stimulant.

No pick required, grown seedlings are moved directly into the ground. Seed germination is average, but the established plants provide good material for subsequent plantings.

The soil should be light, preferably sandy.. Its carefully loosened, choosing the remains of plants that can become a breeding ground for harmful microorganisms and insect pests.

For greater fertility, you can make old humus mixed with peat and wood ash. Landing begins when the ground is warm enough, the minimum temperature is 10 degrees.

The landing pattern is standard. The distance between the bushes is 30 cm, the spacing is at least 60 cm. The variety is sensitive to soil moisture, for greater yields it is recommended to install a drip irrigation system.

If its installation is impossible, it is necessary to organize the usual watering with soaking the soil not less than 50 cm. Shrubs tolerate short-term drought, but the constant lack of moisture adversely affects yield.

Aisle stands should be thrashed with straw or mowed grass, this will keep the soil moisture and save you from frequent weeding. Potatoes needs frequent hilling with the formation of high ridges.

It is recommended to hold at least 2 dressings: root and foliar. Suitable aqueous solution of superphosphate, potassium sulfate, as well as diluted mullein or bird droppings. Nitrogen-containing complexes cannot be abused, they contribute to the accumulation of nitrates in tubers. When and how to apply fertilizer, as well as how to do it properly when planting, read the detailed materials of our site.

In the first year, potatoes can give tubers smaller than usual. But the second landing will help to form large, smooth roots. Potatoes from the most prolific and sturdy bushes are selected as seed material. Mother bushes should not be sore or be affected by pests.

We offer to get acquainted with the materials about the benefits and dangers of the use of fungicides and herbicides.

There are many ways to grow potatoes. We have prepared for you a series of materials about Dutch technology, growing potatoes under straw, in barrels and in bags.

Diseases and pests

The variety is resistant to the main diseases of the nightshade: potato cancer, golden cyst nematode, common scab, various viruses.

Seed material does not degenerateRetains strong immunity. Early ripening protects the tubers and leaves from late blight. For prophylaxis, at the peak of the epidemic, plantings are once sprayed with copper-containing preparations.

The variety is resistant to Colorado potato beetles, but can be affected by wireworms (larvae click beetles). For the prevention of crop rotation is recommended with the change of fields for planting. Legumes, cabbage, and meadow herbs can become the ancestors of potatoes. It helps to disinfect the soil before planting seedlings.

“Triumph” is a variety that has been tested by many gardeners and is worthy of the closest attention. With proper care, it demonstrates excellent yields, reproduction by tubers, individual eyes or seeds is possible.

Growing Potatoes in the Middle Zone

A characteristic feature of the Central Strip, in other words, the Central European part of Russia, is a moderate continental climate and excessive humidity. There is no strong frost and heat. Moderate seasonality: snowy and mild winter and warm and cool summer. The average temperatures in winter are around -8, -12 degrees, in summer +17, +23. The warm period lasts from late May to mid-September.

Gardeners in this region have to throw all their strength against excessive moisture, turning their peat and podzolic soils into swamps. The yield of potatoes here is quite high - up to 0.5 tons. With special care, these figures increase by 10–20%.

Potato types

The rate of maturation of potatoes are divided into the following types:

  • Early - ripen in 50-60 days from the moment of emergence, are not subject to storage, are eaten immediately after digging.
  • Middle-ripening - 70-90 days from germination - differ in good growth and storage in the conditions of Central Russia.
  • Late - more than 100 days - are not grown in the open field of this region, as they do not have time to mature.

Planting potatoes in the middle zone begins at the beginning of May, when the soil warms up to +12 degrees, and the night air - not less than +15 degrees. The first landing time is covered with a film from sudden frosts.

Potatoes are watered, as a rule, by precipitation. The exception is the appearance of sprouts, budding and the end of flowering. During these periods, plants need additional watering and fertilizing.

Far from every potato variety can be grown in Central Russia

Variety depending on climate

A good harvest will give a variety that corresponds to the type of soil and climatic features of the region. The middle lane is a huge territory, in different areas of which there are distinctive weather conditions. Therefore, there are preferences given to different varieties of potatoes.

For example, in the Moscow region, with its high humidity and cloudiness, predominantly early potato varieties with good resistance to phytophthora are chosen for planting. The most common are Early Rose, Falensky, Provento, Lyubimets, Ostara, Lorch, Foremost, Priekulsky Early, Penza Early Adventure, Lugovskoy, Nevsky, Wizard, Sineglazka, Good Luck, Zhukovsky.

In the north-west of Russia, the advantage is in varieties that tolerate frosts and sharp temperature drops. Amorosa, Impala, Latona, Karatop, Nida, Pomegranate, Romano, Aurora, Folva are popular.

Early potato varieties for Central Russia - description

To get a crop in the middle of summer, gardeners grow unpretentious early potatoes, ripening earlier than the spread of diseases and all sorts of pests. Fresh potatoes can be harvested in the open ground after 50 days from the moment of emergence, and even earlier in greenhouses and greenhouses. But having dug, it should be eaten immediately, as it is not subject to long-term storage.

Advantages and disadvantages

Great harvest with careful watering

The characteristic of this type shows that it has the following advantages:

  • has high tastes,
  • can be used in all spheres of human activity,
  • each year gives a high level of productivity,
  • It does not require special care,
  • subject to long-term storage, in which does not lose its positive commodity qualities,
  • no parasites or diseases affect this variety.

The only drawback is that this potato needs a large amount of water so that the soil is always hydrated.

Growing rules

Before planting roots, they should be processed. First you need to select the necessary materials, and pickle with special chemicals. After that, they should be germinated at a certain temperature, which should be no more than 12 ° C. As soon as the shoots reach the mark of 3 cm, they can be planted in the ground.

If you need to propagate potatoes with seeds, it is best to use special containers. Seeds should be soaked in advance and treated with means to enhance growth. Dive seedlings do not need. The soil should choose a sandy look. It should be light and carry oxygen well.To begin with, it is necessary to break through it, and select all the weeds that can cause the reproduction of bacteria, and become a source of pest insects.

In order to increase the yield, it is necessary to pour organic fertilizer into the soil. It can be both old humus and wood ash. It is recommended to plant seedlings or root crops at the moment when the soil reaches the optimum temperature, which is 10 ° C. Between the bushes should adhere to a distance of 25-35 cm. But between the rows should be a distance of 50 cm. Since this type of potato depends on the level of humidity of the earth, you must install drip irrigation. If this is not possible, ordinary watering can be used. The main thing is that it permeates the soil to a depth of 60 cm. In principle, the roots can tolerate drought. But, in order to increase the amount of the crop, such extreme conditions should be avoided.

Do not forget that you need a constant hilling of rows. Top dressing consists of two stages. The first is the root dressing, and the second is the foliar one. To do this, you can use special ready-made mixtures, or dilute bird droppings in water. Do not often use nitrogen fertilizers, as they will contribute to the emergence of nitrates. Before you start harvesting, remove all the tops. This will facilitate the harvest and saturate the tubers. Before you send the crop for storage, it should be dried. This will reduce the likelihood of rapid decay.

Diseases and parasites

All negative factors, such as insects and pests, cannot influence this type of plant. It is resistant to all negative manifestations from the outside. Due to the fact that it matures quickly, late blight does not have time to appear. In order to reduce the risk of disease during a large epidemic, copper-containing substances should be used.

This type of potato is not affected by the Colorado beetles. But, he may well be exposed to a wireworm. Therefore, experts recommend changing the landing field every year. Best of all, if earlier cabbage, beans or field medicinal herbs grew on this soil. Also do not forget that the treatment of soil with disinfectants is required before planting.

Growing and planting potato seedlings

First about the seedlings. I planted potato seeds as recommended in the sachet instructions - in April. There were about 30 seeds in the package, everything sprouted, and I was very happy - I thought it was a good sign. The seedlings in the picking phase were fertilized with the complex fertilizer Kemira. It is possible and not to carry out a picking, but I had no idea how large the seedlings would grow, and I was a little mistaken with the containers.

When it came time to plant the seedlings, it was already the size of a tomato seedling (25-30 cm) and had many tiny nodules. I planted it very carefully, straightened all the roots with potatoes in loose earth.

Potato bushes care

We always roll up potatoes and mulch potatoes, we did the same with the “newcomer”.

The bushes were strong, there was practically no Colorado potato beetle. Eggplants grew nearby and, while treating them from pests, I constantly checked out new plantings of potatoes, but the “Triumph” bypasses them.

Abundant mulching and watering did the trick: when it came time to dig, there were 20-25 potatoes the size of a tennis ball in each bush. All were smooth, with light yellow skin. Well dried, separately laid in storage in the basement.

Last spring, the tested potatoes and seed potatoes were planted - Triumph. The difference is awesome! Bushes "Triumph" were strong, healthy. And taste! The flesh is creamy, while cooking does not darken.

We decided to give up the old variety. And we reduced the place for potatoes by 1/3 - exactly the yield of the “Triumph” exceeded the former exactly by that amount.

Growing potatoes from seed is not difficult. In the year of sowing, of course, there will be no harvest, but then the trouble will pay off.
